Upcoming 7-Seater Premium SUVs Set to Shake Up the Indian Market

"India's SUV game is about to level up! Four new premium full-size SUVs are on their way, and we’ve got the full scoop on what to expect."
For years, the Toyota Fortuner has ruled the full-size SUV segment with its commanding road presence, rugged off-road chops, and a reliable diesel engine that Indian buyers trust. But things are about to get interesting—with a wave of new challengers bringing in premium features and modern comforts. Let’s check out what’s coming up!
1. New Gen Skoda Kodiaq:

"It may not go head-to-head with the segment’s hardcore off-roaders, but the Skoda Kodiaq holds its own with premium styling and smart pricing. The next-gen Kodiaq is all set to launch in India on April 17, featuring a fresh new look, a more luxurious cabin, and several meaningful upgrades. It’ll be locally assembled and available in two variants."
2. MG Majestor:

"The Majestor will carry over the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine from the Gloster, delivering 213 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. It’ll come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while a 4WD system will be available as an option. This Gloster-based SUV made its first appearance in India at BMGE 2025."
"Positioned as a more premium take on the Gloster, the Majestor is set to become the brand’s new flagship in India. It will be sold alongside the Gloster, offering a refreshed design and a richer feature set."
3. Isuzu MU-X Facelift:

"The MU-X has already received its global facelift, bringing in updated styling and new features. While buzz around its India launch is growing, Isuzu hasn’t revealed any official timeline or details just yet. For now, it remains unclear whether the refreshed MU-X—or its electrified diesel variant—will make it to Indian showrooms."
4. Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid:

"Toyota is steadily introducing a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for its 2.8-litre four-cylinder GD-series diesel engine in global markets. Designed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and deliver smoother low-speed performance, the system marks a step forward in efficiency. Given the Fortuner’s strong hold on India’s full-size SUV segment, it’s looking more and more likely that this mild-hybrid tech will make its way here soon."
